The 2nd era ipod nano continues Apple's custom of generating a compact media player that is more compact than the total-sized ipod. Turning the nano off does not truly shut it down--the nano is developed to go into a rest mode as an alternative which conserves battery electrical power and eliminates strain on the digital parts. 1 button press will turn the 2nd era ipod "off."
